It's not often that things in life go according to plan. This was the case in a South Carolina murder investigation. When cops intended to interview a man potentially connected with the murder, they ended up arresting three men on unrelated drug charges. One of those arrested, a 24-year-old man, faces four charges in light of this arrest.

Police showed up at a local residence to question a man regarding a recent murder. However, when the police started asking questions, the 24-year-old ran away. Once police detained the man, they arrested him on several charges, including intent to distribute cocaine, failure to comply with officers and weapons possession. Police arrested two other men in relation to the incident.

When cops had intended to ask questions about a murder, they ended up finding weapons and drugs. Because drug charges can carry very serious penalties, it is important that cops follow procedure. Wrongful convictions can occur if police officers make a mistake while arresting a suspect. This is why it is vital that individuals are made aware of their rights when they are arrested for a crime.

Everyone being arrested and facing trial has certain rights that are constitutionally guaranteed, no matter how serious the supposed crime is. If a cop performs an unlawful search and seizure of evidence, then that evidence cannot be used in court. While on trial, an accused individual has the right to a fair trial and competent defense attorney.

The case of three men being arrested in South Carolina is a very serious case. Details of the arrests and other pertinent information will come forward during court proceedings. The three men are innocent until proven guilty, no matter what.
